Piano Reps
Short exercises with sheet music, finger numbers, and playback. Work through each section in order.
How to read the exercises
- R right hand, top stave. L left hand, bottom stave.
- Piano finger numbers: thumb is 1, little finger is 5. Both hands use the same numbers.
- Guitar numbering is different. On guitar, 1 is your index finger.
- Press Play to hear an exercise. The keys light up as they sound.
- Speed up by 4 beats per minute (bpm) only when it feels easy three times in a row.
Sections
- Warm-ups
Short exercises to start each practice session. Play them in order, slowly and evenly.
- Hand independence
On guitar, your strumming hand keeps time. On piano, the left hand usually does that job. These drills retrain that habit. Each one is a little harder than the one before.
- Chords
Every major and minor chord, in all three positions. Then progressions that use inversions to keep your hand still.
- Reading practice
Public-domain tunes, from easiest to hardest. Read them from the sheet music, and use the keyboard map only to check.
